What is payroll services?

Managed payroll covers calculating employee pay, withholding and remitting payroll taxes, filing the required federal and state returns, and issuing year-end W-2 and 1099 forms. In Florida there is no state income tax withholding, but employers still owe federal income tax withholding, Social Security and Medicare, federal unemployment tax, and Florida reemployment tax through the Department of Revenue. Kingsley Accounting Group runs payroll end to end, files every return on schedule, and reviews S corporation owner compensation for reasonableness so the payroll position holds up under examination.

Sound familiar?

These are the situations that bring people to this service most often.

You got a penalty notice for a payroll return you thought was filed.
You pay contractors and are not certain they should be W-2 employees instead.
As an S corp owner you have no idea whether your salary is "reasonable" to the IRS.
Payroll takes half a day every fortnight and it should take fifteen minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Florida has no state personal income tax, so there is no state income tax withholding. Employers still owe Florida reemployment tax, reported quarterly on Form RT-6, plus all federal obligations: income tax withholding, Social Security, Medicare and federal unemployment tax.

The IRS requires "reasonable compensation" for the work you actually perform, before any distributions. There is no fixed percentage that is safe. We benchmark against comparable roles, industry data and your actual hours, then document the reasoning so the position is defensible.

Yes, and it is worth asking before there is a problem. Misclassification exposes you to back taxes, interest and penalties. We apply the IRS behavioral, financial and relationship tests to each worker and give you a written conclusion.

Call us before the notices escalate. We file the delinquent returns, calculate what is genuinely owed, and where the facts support it we request penalty abatement: first-time abatement relief succeeds more often than most business owners expect.
