Individual Tax Preparation
Personal tax returns for business owners, investors and professionals whose situation stopped being simple a while ago.
Tax Services
Tax work built for people who invoice rather than get paid: quarterly estimates, real deductions, and no April surprises.
Self-employed and 1099 tax work covers income reported on Form 1099-NEC or received directly from clients, reported on Schedule C of your personal return. Beyond income tax you owe self-employment tax of 15.3% on net earnings, covering both the employer and employee halves of Social Security and Medicare, of which the employer half is deductible. Because no employer withholds on your behalf, quarterly estimated payments are generally required. Kingsley Accounting Group sets a realistic set-aside percentage, files your estimates, and tells you when incorporating starts to pay for itself.
These are the situations that bring people to this service most often.
Every engagement covers the following as standard. Nothing here is an upsell.
We look at last year and this year to date, then set a realistic set-aside percentage so tax money stops feeling like a surprise.
Before each deadline we recalculate against actual income and send you the amount, the voucher and the date.
We file the return, then check whether incorporating, a retirement plan or a structure change is worth it for next year.
One number to hold back from every payment: recalculated as income changes.
The amount, the voucher and the deadline, before each due date.
What is genuinely claimable in your line of work, and what evidence to keep.
A common starting point is 25% to 30% of net profit for federal income tax plus self-employment tax, and Florida residents have no state income tax to add. Your actual figure depends on total household income, filing status, deductions and credits: we calculate a specific percentage rather than leaving you on a rule of thumb.
For the 2026 tax year the federal deadlines are April 15, 2026, June 15, 2026, September 15, 2026 and January 15, 2027. Paying at least 90% of the current year's liability, or 100% of last year's (110% for higher incomes), generally protects you from underpayment penalties.
The rough guide is around $50,000 to $80,000 of net profit above a reasonable salary, once payroll, filing and administration costs are accounted for. Below that the added cost and complexity usually outweigh the self-employment tax saving. We model it on your numbers before recommending it.
Yes. Renting does not disqualify you. The space must be used regularly and exclusively for business. The simplified method allows $5 per square foot up to 300 square feet; the actual expense method allocates rent, utilities and insurance. We calculate both and use whichever is genuinely better.
